1711 Barcelona Suites
The area around the forum in the West of Barcelona is undergoing strong urbanistic changes. The competition plot is located close to the forum and the harbour at the top of two axes. In order to connect the new building well to its immediate urban context, the project breaks up the enormous building mass and appears as two different volumes. The base volume with its' public functions is well measured and proportioned and takes up the building alignments of the neighbouring buildings. The upper volume containing apartments and a skybar seems to float on top of the base volume. A wellness area, conference rooms and event spaces are located in the middle of these two volumes.
